Hitler, The Holocaust, and Abortion…

So, I totally got distracted while doing some research for my Capstone paper and found myself stumbling through my Google Plus posts and found an interesting discussion on abortion. While I was scrolling down through the comments someone had left the link to 180movie.com. This is a 30 min. documentary on the Holocaust and how it relates to the current issue of abortion in America today. Tell me what you think. Ray Comfort is known to be a little… confrontational… as can be read… and re-read throughout his book The Way of the Master.  Check out the video below, I think it is worth your time!

So the other day me and a friend at school were sitting down having a casual conversation about the occupy Wall Street protests/movement that is not only sweeping centers of commerce and money capitols, but the world. It has become a very loud voice for…. a lot of things. After our conversation I decided to hit the web and see what others were saying about the protests. As I was reading and looking at pictures I came across this picture (above). I was not sure what to make of it. Initially I disagreed with the correlation with these protests and the account found in Matthew 21 where Christ drives out those who were selling goods for personal gain  in His Fathers house, the Temple. I see small similarities, but I wonder if there is a danger to Identifying Christ in social or economic movements. Some would argue that there are many similarities, while others would say only if taken out of context could similarities be found.

What do you think? Is this an appropriate correlation? Can we justly connect the Wall Street movement to anything, being that is so vague as of yet? What are your views? do some of these protesters have legitimate complaints?

Times have changed

Wow the times have changed. When I first Stumbled upon this picture I did not think much of it until I started looking close. Look at the people standing around Him, compare those to who our presidents surround themselves with now. Look at what Kennedy is standing on. Think of the stages and platforms our presidents speak from now. Look at the Kid with the toy gun (or at least what I assume to be a toy gun). would this be allowed in a crowd where the President is speaking, let alone right behind him? What about the things we don’t see in this picture? What do you notice when you see this photo, and how does it reveal just how much the times have changed?

You Must Be Ready

35 ”Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning,36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants!39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into.40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

41 Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?”42 And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.44 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.45 But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful.47 And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating.48 But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

We certainly have been intrusted with much, but what does it look like to be “dressed for action”? We want to be ” doing when he comes,” but what specifically do these verses tell us we need to be doing before the master returns, and are we really focused on doing it?
